Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.35% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 0.07% or 0.02 points to trade at 26.82 at the close. Meanwhile, Umicore SA (BR:UMI) fell 0.31% or 0.12 points to end at 40.64 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was down 0.43% or 0.068 points to 15.594 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sofina (BR:SOF), which fell 4.01% or 5.60 points to trade at 134.00 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 4.01% or 3.860 points to end at 92.320 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) was down 2.86% or 2.70 points to 91.66.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 98 to 25 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.13% or 1.70 to $1339.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.12% or 0.73 to hit $64.72 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.50 to trade at $68.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.2414, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8857.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 89.36.
