Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.24%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which rose 2.37% or 1.34 points to trade at 57.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 2.07% or 0.49 points to end at 24.15 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.28% or 0.96 points to 75.96 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which fell 22.77% or 2.58 points to trade at 8.75 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 4.66% or 1.24 points to end at 25.36 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) was down 4.34% or 1.69 points to 37.27.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 84 to 34 and 17 ended unchanged.
Shares in Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) rose to all time highs; up 2.37% or 1.34 to 57.88. Shares in bpost NV (BR:BPOST) fell to all time lows; down 22.77% or 2.58 to 8.75.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.27% or 3.30 to $1242.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $52.97 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.30 to trade at $61.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1330, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8935.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 96.995.
