Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.10%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB), which rose 1.11% or 1.80 points to trade at 163.40 at the close. Meanwhile, KBC Groep NV (EBR:KBC) added 0.16% or 0.12 points to end at 73.74 and Lotus Bakeries (EBR:LOTB) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 10,660.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which fell 3.42% or 2.00 points to trade at 56.55 at the close. Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) declined 2.61% or 0.26 points to end at 9.70 and Elia (EBR:ELI) was down 2.34% or 1.75 points to 73.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 68 to 25 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in KBC Groep NV (EBR:KBC) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.16% or 0.12 to 73.74. Shares in Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.61% or 0.26 to 9.70. Shares in Elia (EBR:ELI) fell to 3-years lows; losing 2.34% or 1.75 to 73.00.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.71% or 45.50 to $2,607.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.77% or 1.25 to hit $69.33 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.66 to trade at $72.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 108.13.
