Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 0.90% or 0.42 points to trade at 47.20 at the close. Meanwhile, NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 0.90% or 0.32 points to end at 35.92 and Sofina (BR:SOF) was up 0.88% or 1.20 points to 137.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which fell 5.46% or 3.35 points to trade at 57.95 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.86% or 1.720 points to end at 90.980 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) was down 1.78% or 0.79 points to 43.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 71 to 43 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Umicore SA (BR:UMI) rose to 5-year highs; rising 0.90% or 0.42 to 47.20.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.26% or 3.40 to $1329.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.22% or 0.13 to hit $59.16 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $62.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.2360, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8904.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 89.55.
