Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.57% or 0.67 points to trade at 43.08 at the close. Meanwhile, bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 0.96% or 0.22 points to end at 23.16 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.73% or 0.285 points to 39.285 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UCB (BR:UCB), which fell 2.66% or 1.57 points to trade at 57.50 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 1.92% or 2.40 points to end at 122.45 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was down 1.86% or 1.190 points to 62.630.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 71 to 36 and 13 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.22% or 15.36 to $1277.96 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.35% or 0.17 to hit $49.34 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.30 to trade at $52.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1738, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.9033.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 93.54.
