Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.92%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.30% or 1.140 points to trade at 88.720 at the close. Meanwhile, Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 1.12% or 0.45 points to end at 40.76 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) was up 0.74% or 0.37 points to 50.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KBC (BR:KBC), which fell 2.68% or 1.820 points to trade at 66.180 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 2.09% or 0.270 points to end at 12.644 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was down 1.56% or 0.24 points to 15.17.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 67 to 61 and 17 ended unchanged.
Shares in Umicore SA (BR:UMI) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 0.74% or 0.37 to 50.12.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.47% or 6.10 to $1303.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.22% or 0.14 to hit $64.89 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.57% or 0.43 to trade at $74.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1721, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8757.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 93.83.
