Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.34% or 1.155 points to trade at 50.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 0.88% or 0.36 points to end at 41.95 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.87% or 0.12 points to 14.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 2.97% or 0.86 points to trade at 28.07 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 2.92% or 1.270 points to end at 42.230 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) was down 1.65% or 0.151 points to 9.009.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 84 to 57 and 13 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.12% or 14.95 to $1353.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.14% or 0.07 to hit $48.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.05 to trade at $50.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8382.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 95.61.
