Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 1.27% or 0.10 points to trade at 7.98 at the close. Meanwhile, KBC (BR:KBC) added 1.17% or 0.680 points to end at 58.860 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was up 0.62% or 0.061 points to 9.887 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 3.82% or 3.480 points to trade at 87.540 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 3.29% or 0.76 points to end at 22.34 and Argen-X (BR:ARGX) was down 2.35% or 2.20 points to 91.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 77 to 38 and 13 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.10% or 1.25 to $1290.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.50% or 0.26 to hit $51.33 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.81% or 0.49 to trade at $59.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1480, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8913.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 95.127.
