Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.40% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB), which rose 2.49% or 0.77 points to trade at 31.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) added 1.46% or 0.24 points to end at 16.67 and D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB) was up 0.99% or 2.00 points to 203.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 1.37% or 0.34 points to trade at 24.52 at the close. Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) declined 1.16% or 1.00 points to end at 85.00 and Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) was down 1.13% or 4.00 points to 350.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 52 to 36 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.37% or 0.34 to 24.52.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.06% or 1.40 to $2,326.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.49% or 1.88 to hit $77.41 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.22% or 1.77 to trade at $81.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.44% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.80.
