Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 2.19% or 0.56 points to trade at 26.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET) added 1.79% or 0.76 points to end at 43.30 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.41% or 1.220 points to 87.920 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UCB (BR:UCB), which fell 1.81% or 1.34 points to trade at 72.70 at the close. Ageas (BR:AGES) declined 1.27% or 0.550 points to end at 42.900 and KBC (BR:KBC) was down 1.26% or 0.800 points to 62.800.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 58 to 49 and 14 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.80% or 9.80 to $1229.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.54% or 0.28 to hit $51.84 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.22 to trade at $60.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.1356, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8864.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 96.817.
