Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 0.69% or 0.15 points to trade at 21.87 at the close. Meanwhile, Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 0.53% or 0.14 points to end at 25.60 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 0.39% or 0.230 points to 59.540 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which fell 2.59% or 1.43 points to trade at 53.68 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 1.70% or 0.89 points to end at 51.41 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was down 1.59% or 0.63 points to 39.04.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 71 to 42 and 7 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.28% or 3.25 to $1165.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.09% or 1.59 to hit $53.09 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.96% or 1.61 to trade at $55.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.78% to 1.0638, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8385.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 101.00.
