Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 1.74% or 0.38 points to trade at 22.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 1.29% or 0.61 points to end at 48.00 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 0.83% or 0.95 points to 116.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which fell 2.34% or 0.56 points to trade at 23.39 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 1.98% or 0.82 points to end at 40.63 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was down 1.58% or 0.78 points to 48.64.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 73 to 46 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in Proximus NV (BR:PROX) fell to 3-years lows; losing 2.34% or 0.56 to 23.39.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 2.03% or 26.80 to $1291.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.41% or 0.29 to hit $70.67 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.49 to trade at $78.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.1864, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8779.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 93.00.
