Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 1.96% or 1.30 points to trade at 67.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BR:AGES) added 1.31% or 0.560 points to end at 43.400 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.26% or 1.080 points to 86.920 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 2.92% or 0.70 points to trade at 23.30 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 2.00% or 2.35 points to end at 115.00 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) was down 1.81% or 0.89 points to 48.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 59 to 54 and 13 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.06% or 0.80 to $1300.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.60% or 1.09 to hit $67.12 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.39 to trade at $78.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1662, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8774.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 94.10.
