Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 2.48% or 1.00 points to trade at 41.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 1.31% or 0.68 points to end at 52.47 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 1.12% or 0.17 points to 14.89 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KBC (BR:KBC), which fell 1.91% or 0.840 points to trade at 43.165 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) declined 0.96% or 0.093 points to end at 9.546 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was down 0.92% or 0.285 points to 30.560.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 75 to 65 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.67% or 8.95 to $1344.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.00% or 1.87 to hit $44.93 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.15% or 2.01 to trade at $46.46 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1104, while EUR/GBP rose 0.92% to 0.8428.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.36% at 96.20.
