Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 4.55% or 2.350 points to trade at 53.990 at the close. Meanwhile, ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 1.69% or 0.185 points to end at 11.135 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 1.04% or 0.340 points to 33.060 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which fell 4.02% or 1.08 points to trade at 25.75 at the close. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) declined 1.74% or 1.90 points to end at 107.15 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was down 1.66% or 0.23 points to 13.37.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 87 to 61 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Proximus NV (BR:PROX) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.02% or 1.08 to 25.75.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.35 to $1266.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.36% or 1.15 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.12% or 1.08 to trade at $51.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1201, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8788.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 96.18.
