Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 1.91% or 0.49 points to trade at 26.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 1.37% or 0.60 points to end at 44.62 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.79% or 0.50 points to 64.09 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which fell 1.67% or 0.58 points to trade at 34.24 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 1.64% or 0.70 points to end at 42.10 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was down 1.43% or 0.83 points to 57.21.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 63 to 54 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in bpost NV (BR:BPOST) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.91% or 0.49 to 26.38. Shares in NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.67% or 0.58 to 34.24.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.84% or 10.70 to $1267.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.45% or 0.26 to hit $57.73 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.51 to trade at $62.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.1822, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8791.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 93.31.
