Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 1.31% or 0.850 points to trade at 65.550 at the close. Meanwhile, ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 0.63% or 0.095 points to end at 15.235 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.56% or 0.195 points to 35.225 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which fell 2.71% or 1.70 points to trade at 61.00 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.70% or 1.150 points to end at 66.690 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was down 1.07% or 0.47 points to 43.58.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 71 to 40 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.26% or 3.27 to $1250.17 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.95% or 0.42 to hit $44.66 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.52 to trade at $47.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1373, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.8787.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 95.77.
