Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 1.99%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 4.47% or 1.05 points to trade at 24.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET) added 4.03% or 1.60 points to end at 41.30 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 3.53% or 2.04 points to 59.76 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 0.46% or 0.08 points to trade at 17.16 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.50% or 0.38 points to end at 77.10 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 0.72% or 0.64 points to 90.02.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 81 to 22 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.53% or 2.04 to 59.76.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.27% or 3.35 to $1250.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.72% or 0.37 to hit $52.02 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.56 to trade at $60.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1359, while EUR/GBP fell 0.89% to 0.8982.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 97.040.
