Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 1.82%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 3.72% or 2.150 points to trade at 60.000 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 2.91% or 0.34 points to end at 11.86 and Elia (BR:ELI) was up 2.39% or 1.105 points to 47.305 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which fell 2.28% or 0.295 points to trade at 12.620 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.12% or 0.630 points to end at 55.780 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was down 0.54% or 0.21 points to 39.94.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 101 to 45 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in KBC (BR:KBC) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.72% or 2.150 to 60.000.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.62% or 7.35 to $1169.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.01% or 1.04 to hit $50.75 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.89% or 1.04 to trade at $53.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.0701, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8440.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 100.61.
