Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 1.42%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 6.94% or 3.680 points to trade at 56.680 at the close. Meanwhile, KBC (BR:KBC) added 4.73% or 2.640 points to end at 58.420 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was up 4.58% or 0.565 points to 12.910 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 2.23% or 0.59 points to trade at 25.87 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 1.96% or 0.26 points to end at 12.75 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) was down 0.77% or 0.80 points to 102.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 77 to 70 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.23% or 0.59 to 25.87.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.12% or 1.50 to $1276.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.53% or 0.69 to hit $45.67 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 0.63 to trade at $46.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.93% to 1.0924, while EUR/GBP fell 1.38% to 0.8781.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 98.48.
