Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.96% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 3.21% or 1.90 points to trade at 61.05 at the close. Meanwhile, bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 2.03% or 0.52 points to end at 26.18 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.18% or 1.40 points to 119.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which fell 0.69% or 0.26 points to trade at 37.16 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 0.28% or 0.08 points to end at 28.64 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.48% or 0.200 points to 41.500.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 86 to 25 and 20 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1322.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.95% or 0.59 to hit $61.42 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.40 to trade at $67.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.2038, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8877.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 91.72.
