Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.87% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Argen-X (EBR:ARGX), which rose 1.63% or 7.50 points to trade at 466.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Ackermans & Van Haaren NV (EBR:ACKB) added 1.49% or 2.60 points to end at 177.60 and Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) was up 1.44% or 1.15 points to 81.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which fell 3.29% or 0.43 points to trade at 12.64 at the close. Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) declined 1.47% or 1.15 points to end at 77.00 and Elia (EBR:ELI) was down 0.73% or 0.70 points to 95.55.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 55 to 39 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.29% or 0.43 to 12.64. Shares in Ackermans & Van Haaren NV (EBR:ACKB) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.49% or 2.60 to 177.60.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.24% or 5.70 to $2,431.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.50% or 1.14 to hit $74.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.32% or 1.04 to trade at $78.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 104.40.
