Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.81% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 2.23% or 1.31 points to trade at 59.98 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BR:AGES) added 1.95% or 0.725 points to end at 37.930 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 1.46% or 0.76 points to 52.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which fell 0.37% or 0.17 points to trade at 46.19 at the close. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 0.29% or 0.140 points to end at 47.540 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was down 0.17% or 0.04 points to 26.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 66 to 43 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Telenet Group (BR:TNET) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.46% or 0.76 to 52.78.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.88% or 10.05 to $1132.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.58% or 0.31 to hit $53.37 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.50 to trade at $55.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.0394, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8411.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 103.26.
