Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Construction & Materials and Beverage sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BRU:PROX), which rose 1.89% or 0.57 points to trade at 31.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BRU:COLR) added 1.46% or 0.58 points to end at 40.27 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI) was up 1.41% or 1.50 points to 107.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB), which fell 2.68% or 0.850 points to trade at 30.845 at the close. Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) declined 1.32% or 0.62 points to end at 46.45 and NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) was down 1.14% or 0.28 points to 24.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 82 to 81 and 3 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.75% or 8.60 to $1161.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.08% or 1.09 to hit $51.24 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.68% or 0.39 to trade at $56.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.1066, while EUR/GBP rose 1.28% to 0.7212.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 96.44.
