Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.07% or 2.550 points to trade at 85.590 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BR:AGES) added 2.59% or 1.010 points to end at 39.970 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 1.75% or 1.230 points to 71.510 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which fell 2.78% or 1.26 points to trade at 44.22 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.72% or 1.04 points to end at 59.54 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was down 0.87% or 0.60 points to 68.31.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 64 to 48 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in KBC (BR:KBC) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.75% or 1.230 to 71.510.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.78% or 10.19 to $1291.51 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.33% or 0.17 to hit $52.05 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.44 to trade at $57.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.1768, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8776.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 93.05.
