Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 8.90% or 3.78 points to trade at 46.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 2.38% or 0.48 points to end at 20.66 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) was up 1.47% or 1.38 points to 95.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UCB (BR:UCB), which fell 6.61% or 4.30 points to trade at 60.78 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 5.87% or 3.15 points to end at 50.55 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) was down 2.93% or 1.22 points to 40.35.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 70 to 33 and 24 ended unchanged.
Shares in Telenet Group (BR:TNET) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.87% or 3.15 to 50.55.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.37% or 4.90 to $1317.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $67.94 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.30 to trade at $74.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.2115, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8700.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 91.31.
