Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare, Pharma & Bio-technology and Construction & Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.37% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were DIeteren SA (BR:IETB), which rose 3.27% or 0.975 points to trade at 30.780 at the close. Meanwhile, UCB (BR:UCB) added 2.65% or 2.03 points to end at 78.72 and Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) was up 1.86% or 0.13 points to 7.18 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which fell 2.29% or 0.74 points to trade at 31.52 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) declined 0.92% or 0.42 points to end at 45.03 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was down 0.63% or 0.65 points to 102.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 90 to 66 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in UCB (BR:UCB) rose to all time highs; up 2.65% or 2.03 to 78.72.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.44% or 5.10 to $1142.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.09% or 0.50 to hit $46.56 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 0.72 to trade at $49.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1022, while EUR/GBP fell 0.55% to 0.7131.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 96.87.
