Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.36% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 1.93% or 0.68 points to trade at 35.62 at the close. Meanwhile, bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.50% or 0.38 points to end at 25.65 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.42% or 0.91 points to 65.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 3.01% or 2.290 points to trade at 73.750 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 0.82% or 0.23 points to end at 28.46 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was down 0.53% or 0.24 points to 44.76.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 65 to 55 and 7 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.55% or 6.80 to $1240.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.50% or 0.87 to hit $57.12 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.96% or 1.27 to trade at $63.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1723, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8800.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 94.19.
