Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Banking and Pharma & Bio-technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which rose 1.64% or 2.65 points to trade at 164.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (EBR:ABI) added 1.55% or 0.86 points to end at 56.52 and Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB) was up 1.21% or 0.75 points to 62.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which fell 1.69% or 0.18 points to trade at 10.48 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.67% or 0.44 points to end at 25.86 and Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) was down 1.60% or 1.25 points to 76.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 51 to 48 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in UCB SA (EBR:UCB) rose to all time highs; rising 1.64% or 2.65 to 164.25. Shares in Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) fell to 5-year lows; down 1.69% or 0.18 to 10.48.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.09% or 2.25 to $2,525.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.87% or 0.61 to hit $69.73 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.56 to trade at $73.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 101.32.
