Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.36% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which rose 1.65% or 1.40 points to trade at 86.20 at the close. Meanwhile, D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB) added 1.65% or 3.40 points to end at 210.00 and Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) was up 1.36% or 0.19 points to 14.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elia (EBR:ELI), which fell 2.13% or 2.00 points to trade at 91.95 at the close. UCB SA (EBR:UCB) declined 0.52% or 0.75 points to end at 143.85 and Sofina (EBR:SOF) was down 0.46% or 1.00 points to 214.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 54 to 33 and 18 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.17% or 4.20 to $2,417.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.19% or 0.16 to hit $82.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.10 to trade at $85.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 103.79.
