Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 4.54% or 0.34 points to trade at 7.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 1.86% or 0.44 points to end at 24.14 and Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET) was up 1.29% or 0.54 points to 42.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UCB (BR:UCB), which fell 1.61% or 1.18 points to trade at 72.14 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 1.03% or 0.24 points to end at 23.00 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) was down 0.81% or 0.29 points to 35.41.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 61 to 49 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Aperam SA (AS:APAM) fell to 3-years lows; falling 1.03% or 0.24 to 23.00.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.39% or 4.90 to $1258.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.18% or 1.48 to hit $48.08 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.52% or 1.42 to trade at $57.68 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.1427, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.9022.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 96.083.
