Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.26% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BR:AGES), which rose 1.81% or 0.700 points to trade at 39.400 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.74% or 0.23 points to end at 13.46 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 1.17% or 0.74 points to 63.94 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which fell 3.26% or 0.78 points to trade at 23.02 at the close. Argen-X (BR:ARGX) declined 2.75% or 2.70 points to end at 95.60 and Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET) was down 2.03% or 0.84 points to 40.54.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 57 to 54 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) rose to all time highs; rising 1.17% or 0.74 to 63.94.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.19% or 2.40 to $1289.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.32% or 0.17 to hit $52.19 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.18% or 0.11 to trade at $61.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1511, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.9024.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 95.028.
