Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB), which rose 1.73% or 1.60 points to trade at 94.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) added 1.40% or 1.45 points to end at 105.20 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.24% or 1.60 points to 130.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which fell 1.57% or 0.64 points to trade at 40.25 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 1.34% or 0.63 points to end at 46.42 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was down 0.96% or 0.400 points to 41.215.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 75 to 42 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.73% or 1.60 to 94.32. Shares in Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.24% or 1.60 to 130.70.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.67% or 8.60 to $1269.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.01% or 0.55 to hit $55.09 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 0.83 to trade at $61.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.1606, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.8882.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 94.88.
