Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.29% or 0.18 points to trade at 14.50 at the close. Meanwhile, KBC (BR:KBC) added 0.63% or 0.430 points to end at 69.070 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.53% or 0.210 points to 39.470 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB), which fell 2.02% or 1.78 points to trade at 86.34 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 0.52% or 0.65 points to end at 124.05 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was down 0.37% or 0.55 points to 150.05.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 59 to 49 and 9 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.13% or 1.69 to $1293.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.35% or 1.14 to hit $47.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 0.77 to trade at $51.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1804, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.9224.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 93.18.
