Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.20% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 1.68% or 1.01 points to trade at 61.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 1.40% or 0.53 points to end at 38.47 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.73% or 0.295 points to 40.465 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which fell 1.77% or 2.25 points to trade at 124.60 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 1.35% or 1.75 points to end at 128.25 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was down 1.13% or 0.34 points to 30.27.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 63 to 57 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Umicore SA (BR:UMI) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.40% or 0.53 to 38.47. Shares in Ageas (BR:AGES) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 0.73% or 0.295 to 40.465.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.18% or 15.40 to $1287.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.87% or 0.45 to hit $51.42 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.48 to trade at $57.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1751, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.8917.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 93.49.
