Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 3.11% or 0.43 points to trade at 14.41 at the close. Meanwhile, Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.22% or 0.970 points to end at 80.770 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 0.92% or 0.27 points to 29.11 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which fell 1.80% or 1.01 points to trade at 54.99 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 0.88% or 1.10 points to end at 124.20 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was down 0.78% or 1.10 points to 140.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 65 to 47 and 6 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.04% or 0.58 to $1343.92 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.19% or 0.58 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 0.71 to trade at $54.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1942, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.9142.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 92.02.
