Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 2.19% or 2.50 points to trade at 116.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 1.97% or 0.95 points to end at 49.13 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 1.73% or 1.140 points to 66.880 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Argen-X (BR:ARGX), which fell 11.79% or 9.60 points to trade at 71.80 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) declined 2.19% or 1.14 points to end at 50.86 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was down 2.09% or 0.26 points to 12.17.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 58 to 48 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.09% or 0.26 to 12.17.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.49% or 5.90 to $1208.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.03% or 0.72 to hit $70.31 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.11 to trade at $79.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1684, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8877.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 94.06.
