Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 3.40% or 1.38 points to trade at 41.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 3.11% or 0.58 points to end at 19.25 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 2.71% or 0.54 points to 20.44 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which fell 1.76% or 1.90 points to trade at 105.80 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.48% or 1.180 points to end at 78.760 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was down 1.15% or 0.15 points to 12.86.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 59 to 50 and 14 ended unchanged.
Shares in Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.76% or 1.90 to 105.80. Shares in bpost NV (BR:BPOST) fell to all time lows; losing 1.15% or 0.15 to 12.86.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.48% or 6.00 to $1259.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $74.17 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.19 to trade at $77.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1663, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.25.
