Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Telecoms and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.06% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which rose 4.41% or 2.50 points to trade at 59.15 at the close. Meanwhile, UCB SA (EBR:UCB) added 1.18% or 2.30 points to end at 196.80 and Ageas (EBR:AGES) was up 0.76% or 0.36 points to 47.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elia (EBR:ELI), which fell 4.10% or 2.85 points to trade at 66.70 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 3.48% or 0.96 points to end at 26.66 and KBC Groep NV (EBR:KBC) was down 0.69% or 0.52 points to 74.64.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 49 to 46 and 14 ended unchanged.
Shares in Elia (EBR:ELI) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.10% or 2.85 to 66.70. Shares in UCB SA (EBR:UCB) rose to all time highs; rising 1.18% or 2.30 to 196.80.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.46% or 12.19 to $2,684.59 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.08% or 0.79 to hit $74.11 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.18% or 0.90 to trade at $77.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 109.00.
