Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Footwear & Textile and Banking, Financials & Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 1.03% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC (CM:SOY), which rose 21.77% or 84.90 points to trade at 474.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Colombo Investment Trust PLC (CM:CIT) added 21.64% or 18.50 points to end at 104.00 and Lanka Ceramic PLC (CM:CERA) was up 18.37% or 22.50 points to 145.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which fell 11.54% or 300.10 points to trade at 2300.00 at the close. Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR) declined 6.67% or 0.10 points to end at 1.40 and Asia Asset Finance Ltd (CM:ASAS) was down 6.67% or 0.10 points to 1.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 144 to 54 and 42 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lanka Ceramic PLC (CM:CERA) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 18.37% or 22.50 to 145.00.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.30% or 0.58 to $44.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.98% or 0.45 to hit $45.38 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.16% or 2.10 to trade at $1297.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.20% to 213.520, while USD/LKR fell 0.41% to 145.625.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 92.21.
