NEW YORK, Dec 14 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks pared most of their gains on Tuesday and the S&P 500 turned negative, weighed by declines in bank stocks.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained 34.55 points, or 0.30 percent, to 11,463.11. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index dipped 0.26 points, or 0.02 percent, to 1,240.20. The Nasdaq Composite Index edged up 1.15 points, or 0.04 percent, to 2,626.06. (Editing by Leslie Adler)
