Investing.com – The number of new U.S. residential building permits issued in July declined in line with expectations, official data showed on Tuesday.
In a report, the Department of Housing and Urban Development said the number of new residential building permits issued declined to a seasonally adjusted 0.57 million in July, in line with expectations, after rising to 0.58 million in June, whose figure was revised down from 0.59 million.
The report said that housing starts rose in line with expectation in July, rising to a seasonally adjusted 0.55 million, after falling to 0.54 million in June, whose figure was revised down from 0.55 million.
Following the release of the data the U.S. dollar was down against the U.S. dollar with EUR/USD gaining 0.43% to hit 1.2883.
