SYDNEY, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Australian insurer AMP Ltd and takeover target AXA Asia Pacific plan to make a merger announcement, both firms said on Monday.
Neither firm gave any details. They both called a halt to trading in their shares pending an announcement.
Under a lapsed deal with AXA Asia's parent, AXA SA, AMP would have taken the Australia and New Zealand business while AXA SA would have taken the Asian operations. (Reporting by Narayanan Somasundaram; Editing by Mark Bendeich)
