MADRID (Reuters) - Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and German car maker BMW (ETR:BMWG) have won a lawsuit in Spain against four sellers of counterfeit BMW merchandise, the U.S. online retailer said in a statement on its website on Thursday.
The two companies identified the group who were allegedly selling on Amazon's websites counterfeit BMW products such as tyre valve caps, badges and key rings with the German company's logo.
They sued them in the Spanish Community Trade Mark Court, located in the eastern Spanish city of Alicante, which enforces European Union regulations.
Amazon, which has cracked down on counterfeiters on its many marketplace websites in response to criticism and lawsuits from luxury brands, did not detail any penalties handed out.
