  • West African neighbors Senegal and Mauritania sign an agreement pledging to split production from a giant new cross-border gas field being developed by Kosmos Energy (NYSE:KOS) and BP.
  • The Greater Tortue complex, which straddles the two countries’ maritime boundary, is estimated to hold more than 25T cf of gas and is expected to come online in 2021 with production to be exported from a liquefied natural gas facility.
  • In a region where maritime boundaries are often poorly established, the agreement reduces the likelihood of further discord and raises hopes that the gas field will proceed toward a timely completion.
