Investing.com -- Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are in a tight race in North Carolina, separated by just two points, according to a new poll.
The survey, published by The Washington Post, shows Trump with 50 percent support from likely voters, while Harris is backed by 48 percent. The difference falls within the poll's margin of error.
A small portion of respondents, about 1 percent, are said to have expressed support for another candidate, while 2 percent were undecided, said The Washington Post.
North Carolina, a crucial swing state, could play a decisive role in the upcoming election.
Another poll from East Carolina University is also said to reflect a close race, with Trump ahead by two points.
In the state’s gubernatorial race, North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein (D) reportedly leads Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R) by a significant margin, with 54 percent support compared to Robinson's 38 percent, according to the poll.
The report adds that among registered voters, 80 percent said they were “extremely motivated” to vote in the election. When broken down, the survey reveals that 83 percent of Trump supporters said they were motivated to vote compared to 81 percent of Harris supporters.
The Washington Post survey, conducted from September 25 to 29, surveyed 1,001 people and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
