Investing.com - New polling data shows that American voters are not impressed by proposals to bring Republican foes of President-elect Donald Trump into his advisory Cabinet. Trump late on Tuesday picked Steve Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) partner and former film producer in Hollywood, as the Treasury Secretary. Mnunchin produced the hit films, "Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)," "The Edge of Tomorrow (2014)" with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, and "Batman and Superman (2016)," among others.
President-elect Donald Trump has been meeting with potential members of his Cabinet in New York City at Trump Tower, including some who were outspoken opponents of his presidential campaign. American voters do believe that a president’s Cabinet is important to his administration’s success, but are less sure about the benefits of bringing in political opponents, like former GOP nominee for president, Mitt Romney.
The new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey found that 96% of likely U.S. voters believe a president’s Cabinet choices are at least "somewhat important" to the success of his or her administration, including 78% who say they are "very important." Just 2% consider these choices unimportant to the administration’s success.
