Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, pop singer Ciara, are joining a group looking to bring Major League Baseball to Portland, Ore.

The Portland Diamond Project announced on Friday that the pair had signed on to the effort. The Seahawks star confirmed in his own Twitter post as well.

"MLB to Portland! Let's Go!!! @Ciara & I are pumped to be Owners, Investors, and Partners in bringing @MLB to Rip City!." Wilson tweeted on Friday.

Wilson and Ciara join former Nike (NYSE:NKE) executive Craig Cheek, who launched the project last month, and others as investors in the project. The group is reportedly focused on procuring land and beginning to build a stadium.

No financial terms were announced, but ESPN's Darren Rovell reports that all partners in the group are splitting the costs evenly and would be the favorites to become owners should MLB award an expansion franchise to the city.

It's unclear how the group would be involved should an established team relocate to Portland.

Wilson's no stranger to baseball, having been drafted in both 2007 and 2010 and spending two years in the low minors, though electing to stick with football as a professional. He's also appeared in Spring Training Games with the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees.

Wilson partnered with the Sonics Arena Group in 2016. That group is trying to revive the Sonics franchise in Seattle after the original team moved to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder.
