NEW YORK (Reuters) - American Pharoah, seeking to become the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years, drew the fifth post position on Wednesday for Saturday's running of the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes and was installed as the 3-5 morning line favorite.
Frosted, the winner of the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct with Joel Rosario in the saddle, will start just outside of American Pharoah in the six post and is listed as the second choice at 5-1.
Materiality, who finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby, is listed at 6-1 odds in the eight-horse affair at Belmont Park and will break from the eight hole.
With a victory on Saturday, American Pharoah, ridden by Victor Espinoza and trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, would become the first horse to win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes since Affirmed in 1978.
American Pharoah has won all four of his 2015 starts and is riding a six-race winning streak.
