BRUSSELS, March 9 (Reuters) - U.S. calls for more fiscal stimulus do not match the thinking of governments in the euro zone, the man who chaired a meeting of finance ministers from the 16 euro currency countries said on Monday.
"The 16 finance ministers agreed that recent American appeals insisting Europeans make an added budgetary effort were not to our liking, given that we are not prepared to go further in the recovery packages we have put forward," Eurogroup chairman Jean-Claude Juncker told a news conference.
Larry Summers, a key economic adviser for U.S. President Barack Obama, said in comments published on Monday that governments needed to pump more money into the global economy to combat recession.
Those comments, and the response from Europe, come ahead of two key meetings on the economic crisis involving the large industrial and developing economies of the so-called G20 club. (Reporting by Jan Strupczewski, Writing by Brian Love)
